Dedicated to serving our community, Stanmore Jaffery’s (SJ) is a youth-driven body of KSIMC of London. From its roots as Ithna-Asheri Union to its current day structure, SJ has been organising activities for many years focusing on personal, physical and spiritual development through its five divisions: Literary, Relief, Social, Spirit and Sports.

Our vision is “To develop and inspire our community personally, physically and spiritually whilst promoting brotherhood and sisterhood.”

Our Literary division organises events such as debates, discussion circles and seminars throughout the year focusing on addressing the personal and spiritual development needs of our community. Examples of SJ Literary run events include the regular Friday Community Programmes, Muharram and Ramadan seminars, Ramadhan ibadaat nights and various short courses.

Relief plans fund-raising drives that allows our community to support charities across in the UK and across the globe. Examples of SJ Relief appeals include: raising funds for the Ali-Asghar water appeal; sponsoring students for the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme; building houses and mosques in devastated regions such as Pakistan; sending food baskets and life aid boxes to drought hit areas, including Africa; and supporting local schemes such as Food for Thought for the homeless. Two of Relief’s projects that are now dates in the diary include the Annual Tube Collection and Annual Stanmore Solidarity Walk.

Social organises recreational activities designed to develop our youth and provide a forum for ‘halaal fun’. Examples of SJ Social activities include Friday evening’s Youth Club, First Aid and Public Speaking courses, the annual SJ Sleepover and the SJ Boys Camping Trip.

Our Spirit department is the newest limb in the SJ corpus. It instigates a range of innovative and out-of-the-box projects designed for Muslims in 21st Century, by interacting with our neighbours, distributing paraphernalia adorning the names and principles of the Aimmah (a.s.), handing out poetry books and placing plaques explaining the merits of salawat in the centre.

Sports has always been the lifeblood of Stanmore Jaffery’s. Sports programmes are planned to bring our community closer and develop us physically. A broad range of activities are organised on a weekly basis for men and women of all ages, including football, volleyball, cricket, netball, badminton and swimming. We also proudly represent KSIMC of London in various regional, national and international tournaments, and from time-to-time host them.

Stanmore Jaffery’s is run by a dedicated team of volunteers whose aim is to serve the community.

As a committee we aim to achieve our vision through maintaining existing projects and developing new ones that cater for the evolving needs of our community. We welcome feedback, ideas and, most importantly, more volunteers to assist and drive projects.

If you feel you would like to get involved in any way, across any of the SJ divisions, get in touch and come and join us.

Help us enrich our community, so we can ensure that the youth of the future are handed something even better than what we were given.

SJ has existed in one form or another now over many years. With your help, it will exist for many more to come, and continue to move forward.

To be involved, provide feedback or for anything else, email us at info@jafferys.org, speak to a member of our team. We’re here to serve you, so never hesitate to get in touch!
