Speakers:

Asad Hamir- Asad is a 30 year old qualified optometrist. He had 2 small businesses during university, which financed his degree. Upon graduating, he worked as an optometrist for 9 months, but then decided to venture away from optometry and start his own telecoms business – Telenomics. Telenomics grew to 230 employees and was recognised in 2012 as a top 50 growth telecoms company. Last year, Telenomics won a ‘Mobile Today’ award for industry achievements. He recently started a company called Kite - a disruptive fast fashion eye-wear brand innovating in the eye-wear space and aiming for fast growth. The company aims to turn over £600k in its first year. He is currently looking at other exponential business models in recruitment and other industries.

Javed Kanani- After graduating from City university as an optometrist, Javed worked as a locum optometrist for a period of 18 months, and thereafter opened his first practice in April 2001 - Visualeyes. Having established this practice for 2 years, he decided to expand as a business and partnered with a close friend in University who shared a similar vision. Together, they opened their first practice in 2003 - Realeyes. They continued to take opportunities that came their way as well as actively venture into potential new start ups and takeovers. At one time, they had a total of 7 practices under the Realeyes banner. Javed attributes their success to working actively on the business rather than in the business.
